Information Sharing
Information can be shared in a variety of ways and used to prevent, deter or detect crimes committed by persistent offenders. The Scottish Business Crime Centre can help businesses and organisations make sure that any information sharing is in accordance with the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998. The SBCC can provide all the necessary protocols and procedures that must be followed to keep within the law.

Environmental Initiatives
Illegal fly-posting, graffiti, litter and vacant shop fronts have caused increasing problems over the last few years, not least of which is blighting the appearance of our city and town centres and shopping areas.

These problems can undermine an area's regeneration by reducing investment opportunities and putting off inward investors. They also increase the fear of crime, deter visitors and tourists, cost a great deal to tackle or remove and increase insurance and security costs.

The Scottish Business Crime Centre has information on a number of initiatives that can help local communities create safer and cleaner streets.

Data Compromise
Databases are becoming an increasingly essential part of a business's activities to attract and retain customers. But they are also a likely target for criminals.

Protecting businesses from fraud and e-crime, and the resultant effects, is now more and more important. The way customer data is handled is critical and failure to implement vital precautions, many of which are low or no-cost, could significantly compromise a company's turnover and market share.

The Scottish Business Crime Centre can offer advice and information on how this growing threat can be tackled.
