Safer Retailer

Following on from the success of Best Bar None, the Safer Retailer Award was developed by the SBCC specifically for the retail trade.

Safer Retailer page image

It covers the main issues and legislation concerning the sale of age restricted items such as

o Alcohol

o Cigarettes and tobacco

o Lighter refills, solvents and spray

   paints

o Fireworks

o Knives, knife blades, razor blades,

   firearms and axes

o DVD, video/computer games and

   lottery sales.

The accreditation process examines topics such as security, noise reduction, disability issues and local mandatory conditions imposed by the licensing board. Depending on the partnership in each area the police, trading standards officers, and existing community safety partnerships carry out assessments of premises that wish to take part in the scheme. The SBCC can provide all the relevant documentation for the Safer Retailer Award.
