Taxi Marshalls

Taxi marshals are employed at taxi ranks between agreed hours, normally on Friday and Saturday nights or during busy holiday periods. Their role is to help ensure smooth queuing, to promote the safety and security of people using taxis and to give relevant information to members of the public.

Taxi marshals can be identified by their uniforms, usually a high visibility jacket. These are normally provided by their employer and can include the logo of the funding partnership e.g. community planning partnership, BID etc. The funding for this initiative differs from area to area.

Codes of practice and job descriptions for taxi marshals are available on request from the SBCC.
