Aberdeenshire Best Bar None 2012 Awards

Thirteen Aberdeenshire bars received Best Bar None awards in recognition of their work over the last year to run safe and responsible drinking establishments at a ceremony at The Holiday Inn, Westhill recently.

Gold and silver awards were presented to bars across the area in the annual national awards scheme for licensed premises that allows licensees to demonstrate how well their businesses are managed.

On Tuesday 10 January 2012 Morrisons became the first major retailer in Scotland to achieve the Safer Retailer Award.

The Clacksfirst Business Improvement District launched Scotland’s only interactive crime prevention CD for businesses this morning in Alloa.

The newly developed e-crime Scotland website was launched at the Scottish Financial Crime Group Conference on 27 October.

“CHALLENGE 25 - New Mandatory Condition on Liquor Licences

On 1 October 2011, a new mandatory condition on liquor licences will commence, requiring an age verification policy to be in place. This involves all on sales and off sales premises to verify, on production of ID, that those who appear to be under the age of 25 years who are trying to purchase alcohol, are in fact over the age of 18 years and thus allowed to lawfully make the purchase.

SBCC Welcome New Executive Director

This month saw the departure of Alan Dobie from the Scottish Business Crime Centre. Alan who was a popular face and known to many, is off to travel, starting in Australia. Replacing Alan and building on the work already achieved under the team is Mandy Haeburn-Little. Mandy has worked in a range of companies including Standard Life, the water authority and Edinburgh Trams. Mandy ran her own business for a 7 year period and also has experience in public, private and charitable sectors.

Exhibition warns about cash machine criminals

A special exhibition in Perth city centre next week will provide advice for anyone using cash machines on how they can avoid becoming a victim of card crime.

Cash machines or ATMs (automated teller machines) are widely targeted by organised criminals, who install equipment on legitimate bank cash machines, to steal both card numbers and PIN numbers.
