Morrisons become the first major retailer in Scotland to achieve the Safer Retailer Award
On Tuesday 10 January 2012 Morrisons became the first major retailer in Scotland to achieve the Safer Retailer Award.
All of Morrisons Stores in Scotland (56) have been accredited with merit after undergoing an extensive assessment process by the Scottish Business Crime Centre and Trading Standards to achieve the award.
The Award covers the main issues and
legislation concerning the sale of the following age restricted
items:-

Alcohol
-
Cigarettes and Tobacco
-
Lighter Refills, Solvents and Spray
Paints
-
Fireworks
-
Knives, Knife Blades, Razor Blades, Firearms and
Axes
-
DVD, Video / Computer Games and Lottery
Sales
The initiative also includes
security and noise reduction sections to ensure that retailers are
aware of the need to secure their stock, to protect their staff and
customers alike, and also to promote sensible delivery times which
take account of neighbouring houses etc. Disability issues and
Local Mandatory Conditions imposed by the licensing board are also
catered for.
